Continuing our discussions of the past two classes, post any and all examples of racial-gender-ethnic-religious stereotypes and 'roles' you witness on TV, in the media, on campus, in student interactions, etc... Good examples so far. I was watching the home channel with my wife earlier and they had a show with all of the latest gadgets. All of the familes they showed using them were white, however the commercials for low interest loans and financial help for buying a house...black and hispanic families.
Me and mary were talking about a beer commercial (we think its Milwaukee's best) where a guy will be hanging out with his friends and he does something sterotypically girly and a giant beer can comes out of now where and crushes him. it seemed like a really good example of what we're talking about, plus it has the added element of crazy violence hidden under comedy. its like cartoons or something. wiley coyote definetly wouldnt survive all the acme dynamite blowing him up.... but he always ends up okay..... honestly i have no idea where thar comment just went..... but anyways.... i thought it was interesting how small actions can be considered so offensive.
