Mike, I hope you know (and think you do) that I was only giving Brandon a hard time today in class about his patriotism. I couldn't agree more with what you wrote.
All - please feel free (you're encouraged!) to 'rant' about whatever you're thinking relative to the discussion. Or, you can definitely start a new post as well.
hands down: imogen heap- hide and seek (http:/www.myspace.com/imogenheap if you'd like to hear it)
just the whole feel of the song kind of mimics my mindset from that day. her voice, the rise and fall between verse and chorus, the lyrics (suprisingly, because the song actually has nothing to do with 9/11- imogen isnt even american), and the eerie quasi-a cappella sense of the song strikes the perfect chord.
"where are we? what the hell is going on? the dust has only just begun to form crop circles in the carpet sinking, feeling

what'dcha say, that you only meant well? well of course you did what'dcha say, that's all for the best? of course it is what'dcha say? that it's just what we need you decided this mmmm what'dcha say?
ransom notes keep falling out your mouth midsweet talk, newspaper word cut outs speak no feeling no, i don't believe you you don't care a bit, you don't care a bit"
ps- are we allowed to vent about anything? cause this guy... didnt call me back.... and i just.... was it something i said?? did my hair go flat? no j/k.... anywho....what mike said about the toby keith song made me think of the darryl worley song "have you forgotten." it links a sense of reverence for those lost in the attacks of 9/11 with a blind support of the American war machine, which i have a huge problem with. just because i show sympathy for the lives lost does not mean that i support this war. likewise, just because i protest against this war does not mean that i have forgotten an event that will obviously be burnt into the memories of everyone who lived through it, regardless of political views.
