Okay so i know this wasnt the assignment but i was starting to get really depressed remembering all of the racial stereotypes in old sitcomes and movies so i decided to put a positive example down. In the story "To Kill a Mockingbird" the character of Calpurnia is the cook in the Finch household and a stern disciplinarian for the two children. However, i think that this character is a play on the Mammie figure because instead of separating and depricating the black community, Calpurnia actually serves as a bridge for the children to understand the black community.
and i suppose just for the sake of completing the assignment: that guy in fresh prince of bel air... the kinda dumb one that always hit on will's cousin.... i forget his name. but i guess he was kind of a sambo character.
